UNLOCKING THE SECRETS OF GEMSTONES - PART I
A fascinating hands-on, introductory course designed for consumers and the jewellery professional. It incorporates theory and the examination of over 60 gem varieties, including diamonds, pearls and man-made gems. This course is offered over 2 full days or four 3-hour segments.

It allows students to:
Master the art of recognizing over 60 gem varieties
Learn about the factors that determine their value
Find out how to care for precious gems and jewellery
Determine the difference between man-made stones and natural gems
Understand the nature of gemstone enhancement
Learn how to avoid pitfalls when buying gems


HOW TO LOOK AT GEMSTONES - PART II
Advanced practical course for those who have taken Part I or who have knowledge of gemstones. This course is offered over 2 full days or four 3-hour segments.

An introduction to simple gem identification which allows the student to:
Examine and compare similarly coloured stones of different gem species
Follow a 14 step procedure for gem examination
Instruction in the use of basic gemological equipment


A PASSION FOR PEARLS
An intense one day course explaining the history and changes that have occurred in the industry up to the present. Students will have the opportunity to examine and learn the basics of pearl evaluation.


INTRODUCTION TO DIAMOND GRADING
This course is offered over 1 full day or two 3-hour segments. This hands-on class provides diamond history and in-depth instruction on the meaning of the various grades known as the 4 C's and how they are determined as it pertains to grading.
